The "Cambrian Explosion" was a huge event that resulted in diversification across the planet. It lasted for about 20-25 million years and was significant because most of the major lineages of organisms for their common ancestor during the Cambrian Explosion. Another major event was the Ordovician period because the first land plants happened during that period. The most recent, and current, major event is the Holocene epoch. It is very important because all of recorded human life happens during this epoch as well as global warming.
The scale of Earth's history is massive. Even just the Holocene epoch is so small and insignificant compared to the timeline of Earth's history. For 88% of the geologic timeline, nothing much happens on Earth. I was surprised at how much time there was before anything started to happen and also how long humans have been on Earth.
We have had so much impact on our planet, and all in such a short amount of time. If this keeps up, the planet will soon be destroyed and taken over by humans. In only 11,700 years, we've managed to migrate over then entire planet, build cities almost everywhere, pollute the atmosphere, and put our planet in danger. 12,000 years is nothing compared to the 4.6 billion years that Earth has been around.
I would like to know what the planet will look like in the future, in 50 years as well as in 500 years. I would also want to know if speciation will happen to humans.
