Unit 10 Reflection

Unit 10 was about anatomy and physiology. First we learned about homeostasis and how organisms must maintain homeostasis by reacting to biotic and abiotic factors. Then we moved on to learning about the larger systems in the body. The circulatory and respiratory systems go hand in hand to maintain homeostasis. In the respiratory system, gas exchange occurs with the circulatory system in the alveoli of the lungs. The nervous system has two parts that work together; the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS). The CNS includes the brain, brain stem, and spinal cord and the PNS includes cranial nerves, spinal nerves, sensory neurons, and motor neurons.
Central and Peripheral Nervous Systems
The endocrine system provides long-lasting control of bodily functions such as reproduction, growth and metabolism. The digestive system involves two types of digestion; mechanical and chemical. Mechanical is the breaking down of food using muscles or teeth and chemical is the breaking down of food using enzymes and extreme pH.
The immune system uses innate immunity and adaptive immunity to protect our bodies from infection. The lymphatic system is a system of tubes and sacs throughout the body that collect waste and blood from tissue. Inflammatory response if the process of a body responding to a pathogen entering the body.

I would like to learn more about the circulatory and respiratory systems because I want to know why some people have smaller lung capacities than others and how iron deficiency affects your blood. Looking back at my very first post on this blog, the Jean Lab, I've noticed that I've grown in the way that I know how to do blog posts and lab conclusions well and that incorporating pictures in the right way can really enhance the visual elements of the blog and the post content. I've also learned that piling up a bunch of pictures at the end of posts doesn't do much to help the reader really comprehend what material in the post.

Some of my favorite blog posts would be the two infographics (Genetics Infographic and What on Earth Evolved?: Wheat Infographic). In particular, I am most proud of my Genetics Infographic because I worked very hard on it and spent a lot of time on it, and it turned out to be pretty good. I liked how all the graphics and colors turned out and that all of the graphics helped to support the text. I also liked the Unit 9 Reflection post because it had a lot of pictures and visual elements that make people want to read it.
